How can I get ink from a leather bag?
I have a Liz Claiborne purse turquoise with a mark of ink on the outside of a Bic pen blue
Ink is not a cleaning problem straight forward. The ink has Redy leather for careful disposal needs. The skin type determined success. Italian leather can be aniline style or pigmented. To check what skin type you see the link here: http://www.lttleathercare.co.uk/whatkind … If the ink is a pigmented leather then the first thing you should try is an ink stick (find one who is a professional product used in the industry – LTT do one). The fresher the ink the more chance you have of removing it. Be sure to check the skin type Before doing this as if you use this in an aniline style it will not work and can leave a grease mark does not disappear. If an ink stick does not work a solvent based remover will be used and can also remove finish and pigment so that is best left to experts. hairspray/WD40 Use and all these other solvent cleaners is very risky because it can make the matter worse because they can transmit ink over a larger area and can sometimes then be impossible to solve. Using alcohol, perfume, etc. can also be a little risky depending on how stable is the goal. If the finish is unstable this would remove pigment form the skin. nail polish remover or any other solvents will also remove the finish and the pigment to be replaced. DO NOT USE Baby wipes as they are the worst thing you can use in leather as they break down the finish and eventually ruin it. Please do not try to milk or toothpaste are silly ideas that will leave sticky residues on the surface to help break the goal into your skin. Magic erasers usually remove finish and pigment along with ink. We just these tests and actually do much damage to the skin. They act like a fine sandpaper and remove the finish. Ink-old will be more difficult to remove ink and may mean resorting to solvents which will also remove the finish. This is best left to experts. Silicones / furniture polish are the worst to use in the leather as it forms a layer on the surface of the skin that do not allow moisture to reach the skin and eventually break all the finish and make it crack. skin does not need conditioning needs cleaning and protecting on a regular basis with water based products this will keep it rehydrated and supple. Oils will make things much worse. Skin should be cleaned gently no way has been cleared of "elbow grease" will only cause damage to the finish. Hide food will not remove ink and will leave residues on the leather which attract dirt and oils. Using a good quality leather protector (which works) is to help make this problem easier should it happen again, but also has its good leather through protection against oils and dirt which ultimately make the pigment crack and the leather deteriorate. If the ink is an aniline leather then there is nothing that works if not cleaned skin. Basically you redy leather and would need a specialist to resolve the problem. Using a cleaner and protector on a regular help dissipate the ink and eventually it will not be so obvious.
