A strange title for sure, but perfect for my next article.
Rene-Maurice Gattefosse, born 1881, died 1950. It was a chemist and perfumer working in the Provence region of France and has lived mainly in Lyon. A beautiful town east of Paris, where food is glorious, wide streets and shop to shop temptations magic. Another reason is pathetic is that Lyon is home to the Light Institute, dedicated the Lumiere brothers, inventors of cinema. As director I am sure you can appreciate how the city is holy to me, but to have Mr. Gattefossé live and work there really is a magical coincidence.
So who is Mr. Gattefosse. In the 1800s in France is much research and development of essential oils, mainly on the perfume industry. In 1910, there was a laboratory accident in which Mr. Gattefossé burned his hand in seriously. After extinguishing the flames in a nearby field, returned to the laboratory and plunged his arm into a vat of Lavendula Angustafolia (True Lavender). In itself, the Pain is relieved immediately and over the next week, the accelerated healing that began two weeks later, the wound is completely healed without scar.
This is what we now call a "definitive experience with the oils. Being a scientist, M. Essential oil used or protocols developed during this period are presented with the stories told to support the cause practices. There is a detailed index and an extensive bibliography in the back of book.
M. Gattefossé wrote it was a tradition of attaching a goat, a person close to the consumption or tuberculosis Pulmunary, the belief is that the strong smell of goat pathogens expelled.
