Silver Metal

Metal clay is a suspension of small particles of metal in a clay binder, which can be used to make jewelry, beads and small finds. Beauty Dough is that metals can be handled in the same manner as the clay, but once triggered the binders are burned, leaving intact the form of metal. Although there is a certain amount of contraction (10-15% for newer versions), very fine details can be achieved, the quality prints you need any other method of working metal.

Results of clay objects silver containing almost pure silver (also known as pure silver) which is ideal for glazing. There are two popular brands available – Precious Metal Clay (also known as PMC) and Art Clay Silver (ACS). Precious Metal Clay has been developed in the 1990s in Japan and consists of microscopic particles pure silver (or a fine gold dust) and a binder soluble in water that burns during cooking. The original formula of PMC (now called "standard") should be baked in an oven at a temperature of 1650f and has a high withdrawal rates of approximately 30%. Two additional versions developed later called PMC +, which can be fired 1490F and PMC3, which can be fired at temperatures as low as 1100F. Both latest versions of PMC have rates much smaller than the contraction, allowing much more detail than we have worked on the drawings.

Art Clay Silver (ACS) was developed in Japan and the consistency of the PMC +. The main difference is that the ACS can be fired with a torch in hand or furnace gas. Because of subtle differences in the components folder and the cooking time, ACS benefited from a considerably smaller percentage contraction – only 8.10%. This means that ACS can work with more detail, without loss of definition in the job well. Art Clay Slow Dry was presented shortly after, which has much more working time before requiring the dismissal to a complex work which is molded in clay, without loss of maneuverability.

Clay Art Clay Art 650 and 650 dry slowly growing more popular because not only have a longer working time, but they can be cooked at temperatures as low as 650C/1200F. This allows the integration of glass jewelry in sterling silver and in models without fear of damaging the components. AIDA, manufacturers have implemented ACS Oil Paste, a product is used only in fine silver metal clay discharged or bleached, and layered pasta that was designed for the manufacture of glass and porcelain models.
