What is the best pet carrier for airplane trips?
I travel with my Yorkie 8 pounds soon and wanted to know what the best course airline approved pet carrier. Thank you!
The main thing is that you must have ventilation to the animal and be guaranteed at all times. There are several types different they are approved, the main importance is that it must fit under the seat in front of you and the animal can not be stopped at any point along the length of the flight. I checked in passengers who had what looked like a small bag with mesh sides, and are also difficult cases with metal front covers. The bag is easier to carry and allows a free hand. The size of the box should be perportionate the dog too. You must have space to be able to move. Airlines use and some still sell Sky Kennels. But for a small dog, again I recommend a carrying case, if they can do. In addition, either call ahead of time and have your reservation documented that you have a pet in the cabin. There are only 2 pets allowed in cabin coach for the flight and 1 in first class. His first-come first served basis. In reviewing that it will do at the box office and advise the agent that you have a pet in the cabin. The agent will check its box or kennel size is apprpriate and is an approved container for the trip. So what is labeled the case. This tag must remain visible at all times. The agent asks for the name, breed and weight of the pet. On reaching the door, check again and let the gate agent know that they are carrying a pet. Once aboard the plane, the stewardess will have to see the label as well. Hope this helps a little.
