Early
From very humble beginnings, Jack Vettriano has become one of the most successful living artists. Born Jack Hoggan in 1941 in Fife, Scotland, grew up in an industrial landscape. Like most of his peers, he left school aged 16 and entered the mining industry coal as an apprentice mining engineer. It was one year before beginning the exploration of the artistic talents that have given fame.
His early paintings were copies of Impressionist paintings, but in 1998 presented two paintings from the Royal Scottish Academy is shown in its annual show. This marked a breakthrough in commercial terms for Vettriano paintings sold as both the first day of the show and, crucially, was approached by other galleries who wanted to sell their production.
Other exhibitions of commercial success followed in locations around the world, including Edinburgh, London, Hong Kong, Johannesburg and New York.
Jack Vettriano Prints: $ 1 million
Many art critics dismiss Vettriano's work as "vulgar" and "devoid of imagination. This criticism does not seem to affect sales of his work though. According to British newspaper, The Guardian, who earns 500,000 pounds (about U.S. $ 1,000,000) a year in print royalties alone. Maybe his footprints are so valued because they are very romantic and evocative of a bygone era, more elegant.
Singing Butler and others
The Singing Butler, his most famous work, which shows an elegant romantic couple dancing on a beach involving what appears to be a maid and a butler sells more posters and postcards than any other painting in the UK.
Billy Boys is another iconic painting The crop Vettriano print on a lot of places in style. Again, it is a beach scene, which shows four immaculately Young dresses walking along the coast.
Almost Turneresque is very romantic 'Dance Me To The End Of Love ", which shows three couples, one Again, fashionably dressed, dancing through a hazy mist.

Vettriano has studios in Scotland and London. Is represented by the Portland Gallery, London and includes Jack Nicholson and Terence Conran among his collectors. In 2003 he was awarded the OBE.
