Summer In The Good Old Some Like it Hot, but I 'm not one of those people. I made a good vodka and tonic and sat on the porch under the big ceiling fan reading Former Camelot when the phone rang. It was my husband Brad, Hello, "he said, Guess Who's Coming to dinner? Oh I thought Gee, I did not even think of preparing dinner in this heat. "Okay, I said," Who? "It's the day before, he said. Oh, well now all evening would be "All About Eve" Eva was really in love with Eva. Well, this will be an unforgettable evening. "Oh yeah, and bring a friend Eva is right …. Fred Backster remember? "Yes, my dear, how could forget the man who knew too much of everything." Oh, it's not so bad, "said Brad. Well, Eva and Fred are The Misfits, for sure, I said to Brad. Well, anyway baby if you pick us up at the station 18 hours t, we will be in A Streetcar Named Desire. Do you remember THT? Yes, I said. I'll be there. What the hell I'm going to cook for dinner I? At that point I looked out the back window and saw a man pushing a cart in search psychosis. I wondered what on earth could be in this car? I went out and kind of walk with him until I could see what was inside. To my surprise it was full of wonderful garden fresh vegtables. I said hello and he nodded to me. Nice looking vegetables said. Thank you, that was in my garden. Oh, how beautiful, I said. Want to sell? Of course, he says what you need? I'm having company for dinner and I do a nice refreshing salad. Well, I have everything here you need to do a good salad and my vegtables have special powers. Really. He said. Yes, continured, people feel very happy with tomatoes, cucumbers and lettuce very grateful people and people tell the truth and carrots make people humble. I will take everything he said. That would be truly an unforgettable evening. The dinner was a success Eva never spoke of herself, knew Fred very little and was very humble.
