Diamond buyers want a diamond that is big, bright and has lots of spark. However, when they go to jewelry, attention seems to be on the carat weight, the color and clarity. What is diamond clarity and how it affects the beauty of diamonds?

All diamonds have inclusions in diamonds, because nature is formed at high temperature, high pressure inside a diamond. Some of the most common types of inclusions are feathers, crystals, he says, the clouds, the needles and strands of twinning. Diamonds also have features on the surface, called blemishes. Clearly affects a diamond buying when inclusions and blemishes are visible to the eye, when it negatively affects the path of light through the diamond, or if adversely affect the durability of the diamond.

Industry established diamond clarity grades to identify different levels of clarity in terms of visibility. The visibility of a particular defect depends on the inclusion or its location within the diamond, his physical size and the effect it has when viewed under different lighting conditions. Clarity grades of diamonds rate in the visibility of inclusions and blemishes under 10x loupe.

Flawless and internally flawless (IF) are higher degrees of clarity and do not indicate inclusions are visible under 10-power magnification, allowing the internal Flawless very minor blemishes. Even internally flawless diamonds with inclusions visible when viewed at higher magnification.

VVS1 and VVS2 grades indicate very, very small inclusions, which could take 30 minutes to find with a microscope.

Degrees with inclusions VS1 and VS2 very small they are visible under the microscope, but rarely visible to the naked eye each.

Grades SI1 and SI2 small inclusions under the microscope and are sometimes visible a mere object of help.

I1, Grades I2 and I3 with inclusions that are obvious to the naked eye.

It is important to the clarity designated by either diamond principle of classification of such laboratories as the GIA (Gemological Institute of America) or AGS (American Gem Society). Degrees of clarity in the documentation of other may be exaggerated and inaccurate in relation to industry standards.

What do these mean clarity grades of diamonds for the buyer? There are many degrees of clarity and often a big price difference between neat and clean clarity to the clarity of the eyes. Most diamond buyers want a diamond that has inclusions visible. For bright shapes such as round, oval, square, princess and radiant cuts, which generally means at least SI1 clarity. For step-cut shapes as emerald, and Asscher, unless they have multiple facets to hide inclusions, at least VS2 clarity is generally preferred.

If these are the degrees of clarity of objectives, why buy diamonds can be clearly higher or lower? Sometimes, buyers are under the false impression that greater clarity will a diamond more beautiful. This is a myth promoted by jewelers who have high clarity diamonds that need to sell or want to sell because they require higher prices and by therefore more profit. Some men feel just a perfect diamond (flawless) is good enough for a perfect woman. Some buyers just want to buy more clearly, simply because they can.

Buyers who purchase diamonds less clear, with the eye visible inclusions often do so because under the light is the only way you can reach greater size within your budget. Sometimes, diamond buyers are swayed by the emotion of buying and end with a diamond which looked very much in the lighting of the store, but has inclusions visible in normal lighting, with a further examination. Bright lights in a jewelry often make it difficult to see inclusions that are easy to see in your home or office lighting.

The decision of buying a diamond is a mixture of logic, emotion and comfort. Buyers who are happier with their purchase long term are those who understand their own priorities purchases and then find a diamond that best suits these requirements. For clarity of the diamond, shoppers should determine how important it is that they do not see any inclusions with the naked eye. Then they have to decide the importance of the higher grades are clarity, whether they influence the beauty of diamonds or not.

Of course, the price of diamonds ultimately comes into play, even for those buyers who claim the price is not a problem. Most buyers are looking for your custom mix of size, color, clarity, cut, and price when making purchasing decisions for your special diamond.
