Neriyathum mundum is the traditional clothing of women in Kerala, South India. It is the oldest remnant of the old form of saree which covered only the lower body. [1] In the mundum neriyathum the most traditional piece is the mundu fundamental or lower garment which is the ancient form of the saree denoted in malayalam as "Thunia '(meaning cloth), while the upper garment is neriyathu recently added to the neryathum mundum mundu.The consists of two parts tissue, and could be used in the traditional style or with neriyathu tucked into her bodice, or in a modern style with neriyathu worn on the shoulder left.
