While Cancun and the Yucatan Peninsula are known by travelers as a beach destination in first class, the region is also one of the most bio-diverse regions around the world. Everywhere Cancun, national parks and nature reserves offer visitors the opportunity to see the ecosystem blank and all its unique species. From the observation of marine life diving to bird watching among the Mayan ruins, explore the wildlife has become one of the most popular in the region. Exploring nature in the Yucatan Peninsula, be alert to the most interesting creatures in some of Mexico City.
The Yucatan peninsula is home to at least 125 species of mammals and about 25% of the total population of mammals of Mexico. When passes through sites outside Cancun, try to see some of the following animals:
• Central American Spider Monkey – Some the best places to detect clusters of wanton Spider monkeys are the Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Coba. Each of these popular sites visited by many tour Cancun and highly recommended by tourists and travel experts alike.
• Jaguar and Puma – There are five species of big cats from the Yucatan Peninsula. Although these cats may sometimes be difficult to find, many tourists have photographed these beautiful animals in the local nature preserves.
• Coatimundi and Kinkajou – As two of the small mammals of the region's most unique, a chance encounter with one of these strange creatures warm and calm waters of the coast of Cancun have long had the ability to attract dozens of whales and dolphins, as nowhere else in the world.
• Whale – In the waters around the Cancun area, at least 19 different species of whales can be seen throughout the year. Although there are aquariums and aquatic preserves are home to whales, the best way to see these creatures is the Grand Opening of the water board a Caribbean trip or boat charter.
• Dolphins – Favorite children and adults, 11 species of dolphin inhabit the waters Yucatan, including the playful bottlenose dolphins.
