It is impossible to create a single comprehensive source on all the uniforms of World War II and the teams, even for a nation, let alone only large countries (Britain, Germany, Canada, United States, the Soviet Union, and Japan). Because that the combat was unpredictable, the supply and circulation in all theaters of the war gave some soldiers (usually in the back) more than adequate facilities, while giving men at the front hardly any. For example, browsing through photographs of the Battle of the Ardennes, are photographs of soldiers with only the M-1941 Field Jacket, M-1941 field jacket with heavy wool overcoat, and the M-1943 field jacket. Officers can be viewed using the M-1941 or M-1943 with the officer's coat, a lighter version of khaki and privates heavy wool OD overcoat.
