When I looked at the cover, which erroneously assumed that this would be a kind of self-help book and diet. A writing genre that induces a coma in me after page 2!
I was completely off base, Embracing Your Big Fat Ass is a wonderfully entertaining look at the way we perceive that others can see our 'muscle session. Both authors are to be congratulated in producing a witty dialog. Both are performed standing comics, and I'm sure some of the materials used in the book originated in their performances on stage.
B-Fab (Big Fat Ass Girls), the authors we say are in vogue, which is a B-Fab should be used as a badge of honor, not hidden behind the tent like structures!
There are so many fun parts of this book is hard to pick favorites, a story that sticks out is from Dana of Oklahoma. Very pregnant and shopping for maternity clothes at your local JC Penny, five years his beloved daughter wants to know why they are so fat. I have a baby who patiently explains, is a miracle growing in my belly. The five years of age, provided this concept, for a moment, then comments "I know Mom, but what's Growin 'up your ass?" Oh, the joys of young children!
Laura Banks and Janette Barber tackle all sorts of everyday situations and offer sage advice for the B-Fab. For example, how to deal with the family meal competitive. How can you ensure that you receive your fair share in a "help yourself" in the environment of the table? Simple, sit 10 minutes before cutting all others and hidden under the pretext of helping.
The ideal boyfriend or husband, we are told, is the grocery shop without response and enjoys cooking.
They even offer advice on lingerie for the well-proportioned, thongs are fine, but bright colors are recommended. Thus, in the case of a trip to the emergency room, which are easier for the physician to locate.
Although this is a richly humor book, there are threads of a deeper concept running through it. Too many people, women in particular, worried about their self-esteem and how others perceive them. This translates into low self-esteem, even depression. The message Al embrace their Big Fat Ass is loud and clear. Live for yourself, not somebody else's image of you.
A very enjoyable read and one I can recommend, but I'll give A word of caution to anyone thinking of buying this book as a gift for your wife or girlfriend. Is likely to be sleeping on the couch for a while. And definitely think two times before giving as a gift for Valentine's Day.
With 'True Confessions "liberally sprinkled throughout the book, he laughed from page 1. Although this not a recognized genre of literature, in my mind Embracing Your Big Fat Ass falls into the "bathroom reading". A book that may very more open at a random place, read a couple pages and get a smile.
