Facts about the beautiful city of Mathura
Mathura is a city in the state of Uttar Pradesh in India. His neighbors consider him a holy city. It is located about 50 km north of Agra, about 150 kilometers south of Delhi and about 20 kilometers from Vrindavan. In addition, this city is the center of Directors and the seat of Mathura district of Uttar Pradesh. The city was once an economic center in ancient times, is at the crossroads of relatively large caravan.
The city of Mathura is said to be the birthplace of Krishna. It is said that Krishna was born in the heart of Vraja. This site! called Krishnajanmabhoomi " which means "Place of birth of Krishna." During the period of antiquity, Keshav Dev temple was established on the site of the place of legendary birth of Krishna, also known as an underground prison.
Mathura is also the capital of the United Surasen as the epic of Mahabharata and the Bhagavata Purana. This epic kingdom was governed by the maternal uncle of Krishna called Kansa.
