Backpack Quilted
This is the most interesting part of all quilt-making techniques. You can burn the world in these quilts. Quilt implemented are quilts representing time in memory.

Learn the art of Applique Quilt Making:

I would be a bag messenger. They are cute engagement between (Tote) and reliable (backpack). Totes are good if you want to look good, but good luck finding one that fits all books. And the packaging is reliable and useful, but hard to find cute and not make you look like your elementary school. Messenger Bags are cute and elegant, but still good for the school because that is large enough to store all your books. As for color, I would choose a neutral color that goes with all his clothes.
